The Prunus persica ‘Florida King’ - 'Florida King' Peach was specifically designed for regions with mild winters by the University of Florida. As typically peaches need a total of 800-900 chill hours under 45°F during winter to be able to produce fruit, this variety only needs 150hrs. Featuring dark green leaves with blooms of pinkish-lavender flowers appearing in early spring. Followed by medium to large size fruit with firm yet melting, sweet, juicy flesh and red blushed skin ripening from late May to early June.

This 'Florida King' Peach comes in a 1 Gallon pot

Size: Mature size can reach 12'- 15' x 12'- 15'

Light: Full sun

Hardiness zone: 8 -10

Characteristics: Grows rounded crown with upwardly reaching branches. Is heavy bearing. Has a chill hours (CU) requirement of 150hrs. (Chill hours are the average hours of air temperature between 32° and 45° F in a typical winter season.) Produces fruit in 2-4 years.

Growth Rate: Fast

Soil, Water, Fertilize: Rich, loamy, well-draining soil with the pH 6.0 - 7.0. Tolerant to heat, drought, and disease resistant. Prune in late winter during dormancy to promote growth, fruit production and shape the tree. Fertilize in early spring and once again in late spring to early summer.

Moist, well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter is best to keep this peach tree healthy.

An annual application of slow release fertilizer will benefit the tree for structural growth and increase fruit yield.
