The Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei 'Tonto' - Tonto Crape Myrtle is a perfect addition to any size garden or to be grown in a container. This hardy multi-stemmed, semi-dwarf myrtle is known for it's delicate, soft clusters of fuchsia colored flowers adorning the smooth, peeling bark that bloom from mid-summer to early fall. Dark green foliage turns into a range of red, orange and purple in fall before falling off for winter. Fragrant flower clusters attract pollinators such as hummingbird, bees and butterflies.

Characteristics: This shrub grows in an upright and arching manner, blooming clusters of vibrant magenta flowers in the spring and summer lasting for 3-4 months at a time. Attracts hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. Plant your Crape Myrtle where it will receive full sun in fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Pruning should be done in late winter or early spring before growth begins. Responds well to shaping into either a small tree or shrub.

Growth Rate: Medium to fast

Soil, Water & Fertilize: Adapts to a variety of soils like loam and clay soils. Becomes heat and drought tolerant once roots are established. Prefers average well draining, moist soil with a pH of 5.0 - 6.5. Removing spent flowers will prolong blooming periods.
