The Ilex Opaca -Â American Holly keeps their green leaves all year round with sharp tipped edges. They produce red berry-like fruit that is popular with birds but can be toxic if consumed by humans. In the spring small green or cream flowers appear with a soft pleasant aroma. American Holly grows in a pyramidal shape but can pruned to be a hedge.Â
