The Malus Domestica 'Jonagold' -Ā 'Jonagold' AppleĀ is a cultivar cross between the crisp 'Golden Delicious' and blush-crimson 'Jonathan'. Known for its thin skin, large size, and balanced sweet-tart flavor, this apple is a staple classic. Jonagold have a light red fruit that is ready to harvest in mid-September to late October. They are resistant to cedar-apple rust, and cedar-hawthorn rust.Ā

Growth Rate: Moderate
Soil, Water, Fertilize: Does well in sandy soils but can grow well in a wide range of fertile soil with pH of 6.5-7.0. Water only when the top two inches of soil is dry. Prune in late winter to promote growth and shape the tree. Fertilize in fall.
