Flowering Dogwood Tree 'Elizabeth Lustgarten Kousa Weeping Dogwood'

An Asian variety of our own native dogwood but with its own unique beauty and disease resistance. This versatile, hardy and beautifully shaped tree, with distinctive bracts resembling flowers contrasting the dark green leaves appear once the natives have already gone. The bracts are modified leaves meant to attract pollinators to their small, insignificant flowers at their center and produce larger fruit than our American variety. Various animals, such as birds, squirrels and other mammals enjoy the small glossy red fruit produced in the fall.
