Dogwood arrived quickly and in great shape. Unfortunately deer munched on its leaves when initially planted. I have replanted in a more secluded/protected area. Hopefully it will recover.

Flowering Dogwood Tree 'Cherokee Chief Dogwood'

Cultivated in 1731, this native spanning from Massachusetts to Florida and west of Texas has long been an American favorite. The Flowering Dogwood is a versatile, hardy and beautiful tree, with distinctive bracts resembling flowers contrasting the dark green leaves. The bracts are modified leaves meant to attract pollinators to their small, insignificant flowers at their center. Various animals, such as birds, squirrels and other mammals enjoy the small glossy red fruit produced in the fall.
