The Stellar Pink Cornus Florida x Cornus Kousa - Stellar Pink dogwood is a hybrid between the American Dogwood and the Chinese Dogwood, developed by Elwin R Orton Jr at Rutgers University. Although small in size, this deciduous tree grows densely in an upright, uniform manner with attractive oval-elliptic, dark green leaves. Because the Stellar Pink is a sterile Dogwood it is not able to produce fruit, but spring brings showy, flower-like pink bracts surrounding tiny green flowers at the center. Though sterile, the autumn color is just as breathtaking as any of the others, the lush dark green leaves turn an attractive shade of purples and red.
