The Ilex OpacaAmerican Holly keeps their green leaves all year round with sharp tipped edges. They produce red berry-like fruit that is popular with birds but can be toxic if consumed by humans. In the spring small green or cream flowers appear with a soft pleasant aroma. American Holly grows in a pyramidal shape but can pruned to be a hedge. 

Full sun to partial sun.

Attracts birds, bees and butterflies.

Native to North America

Drought tolerant once established.

Characteristics: Grows in pyramidal shape decorated with dark green glossy leaves with sharp, pointed edges and red berry-like fruit. Blooms small creamy-green flowers in the spring and release a pleasant aromatic scent. Can be pruned and shaped into a hedge.

Growth Rate: Moderate

Soil, Water, Fertilize: Grows in acidic, loamy, moist, sandy & clay soils with pH 5.0-7.0. Prefers normal moisture but can tolerate some floods and droughts.
