The Acer ginnala 'Flame' - Flame Amur Maple is a small upright tree that can be trimmed into a show stopping hedge and is ideal for smaller gardens looking to add color. Flame Amur Maple begins produced beautiful fresh green leaves in the spring that hold their color throughout summer. As fall approaches the leaves change from orange and finally to a vibrant red. Very cold hardy all the way into zone 3.

Full sun to partial sun.

Drought tolerant once established.

    This Flame Amur Maple comes established in a 3x3x6 growing container which provides ample room for root systems to develop in one growing season without become root bound, or restricted in growth.

    Size: Mature size can reach up to 15' - 20'ft high x 15' - 20'ft wide

    Light: Full sun to part shade.

    Hardiness zone: 3 - 8

    Characteristics: Grows with a wide spreading, rounded crown. Is able to be either a large shrub or a small tree with either a multi or single stemmed trunk. Foliage is dark green in spring with creamy white fragrant flower clusters. Leaves become a striking red and produce small red fruits in the fall. Bark is smooth and gray, matures to a grayish-brown.

    Growth Rate: Moderate

    Soil, Water, Fertilize: Grows best is moist well draining soil. Drought tolerant once well established. Tolerant to all soil types including soggy, flooded, heavy clay and urban soil.

    Suggested Uses: Ornamental landscape tree, windbreak, hedges or screen plantings.

    *Plants ship dormant in winter months.

    Best to plant in spring or fall to encourage root growth, but if extreme temperatures aren't an issue, can be planted all year round.

    Pruning is not necessary but can be done whilst in dormancy. Can also trim away lower branches/stems to grow as a single-stemmed tree.

    Provide regular watering during the first year of planting.
