Aloe Barbadensis Miller - Aloe Vera is an easy, attractive succulent that makes for a great indoor companion. Aloe Vera plants are useful, too, as the juice from their leaves can be used to relieve pain from scrapes and burns when applied topically. Aloe Vera is a succulent plant species of the genus Aloe. The plant is stemless or very short-stemmed with thick, greenish, fleshy leaves that fan out from the plant’s central stem. The margin of the leaf is serrated with small teeth.

Full sun to partial sun. Bright light indoors.

Drought tolerant once established.

Additional features: Drought Tolerant and Deer Resistant

This Aloe Vera plants ships as a bare root plant.

Size: Mature size can reach 36" tall and 12" wide

Light: Bright indoor light or Full outdoor sun

Hardiness Zone: 10 - 12

Characteristics: Aloe requires little watering and virtually no fertilizing, making it an easy-care houseplant for beginner gardeners.

Soil & Water: In its natural habitat, aloe vera commonly grows in nutrient-poor soil conditions, on sandy slopes with guaranteed drainage. Ensure proper drainage in a pot by using a cactus potting medium or traditional potting soil mixed with perlite and coarse sand. Aloe prefers to be watered regularly, as long as the soil dries out completely in between waterings. If the soil remains dry for long periods of time, the leaves will shrivel and pucker slightly.

*We cannot send plants to Alaska or Hawaii.

*Plants ship dormant in winter months.

*Pictures shown are of mature plants.

Use cactus soil or well draining soil with perlite or sand for additional drainage.

Ensure the pot has drainage holes as succulents cannot tolerate standing water.

Allow soil to completely dry before watering.

***The gel from Aloe Vera leaves can be used topically, but should NOT be eaten by people or pets. It can cause unpleasant symptoms such as nausea or indigestion and may even be toxic in larger quantities.***
