The Oxalis Triangularis, frequently referred to as "False Shamrock" is a perennial, rhizomatous herbaceous plant native to South America. This plant can be both placed outdoors for ornamental gardening or potted and used indoors for an eye-catching window piece. Has trifoliate leaflets that are shaped like inverted triangles and very in colors from shamrock green to reddish-purple. Is able to blooms in clusters of small, funnel-shaped, white flowers from spring to summer under the right conditions. The blooms can remain through out winter if kept indoors in a sunny spot or till mid-fall when outdoors and in non-extreme temperatures. During night hours both the petals (leaves) close up due to the lack of sunlight and to protect them from changes in temperature. This plant does go into dormancy from fall to winter climates.
