The¬†Prunus x subhirtella¬†'Pendula' -¬†Weeping Higan Cherry is¬†an ornamental tree native to Japan and is recognized as one of the most cold, heat, and stress tolerant varieties available. It is relatively long lived and has a moderately fast grow rate. The flowers are double pink in umbrels of 2-5 blooms and about ¬Ĺ in diameter, appearing from March to April, before the leaves emerge.¬†New bronze leaves appear as the blooms fade and mature to green. Like most ornamental cherries, it is a very showy tree while in bloom and is known for its beauty.
