Vitis labruscaConcord will produce plump sweet, juicy grapes. The fruit is medium size, purple grape with a very distinctive flavor. This grape is very good table grape, excellent for jams, jellies and for homemaking wine. The second year after planting they will produce fruit. This purplish red grape ripens mid to late September. Not only are they a rich source of vitamins A, C, B6 and folate, they contain essential minerals like potassium, calcium, and iron. Plant your grapevines in your own backyard in full sun. Arbors or trellises on the south side of buildings can also provide good sites for grapes. You can create a striking garden accent and you will soon be picking these wonderful grapes in your own yard. Grapes will grow in a wide range of soils, but do best in a deep, well drains sandy loam with a pH of 5.5 to 6.5.
