Welcome to the Tristar Plants family! We are proud that you have decided to visit us, now that you are here, let me tell you a little about us. The Selby family has been in the public service business since 1972. My mother and father were in the grocery business. It was a small country store that served the local community. Customers were not just people, they were family. You knew them and their children and their circumstances, all things that are lacking today. The lessons that they taught have carried over and are some of the base beliefs of Tristar Plants.

 In 2005 Allen and Vonda Selby started a small local greenhouse business in Sparta, Tennessee. We built two 25' by 100’ hoop houses and began growing annuals and vegetable plants for the local community. It was like the old store, they knew everybody’s name, where they lived, and their kid’s name. It was more than a place to buy plants, it was a gathering place to go and talk to people.

 It wasn’t long until those two houses had grown into seven. The local customer base had grown right along with them. Now people were coming from a hundred miles away, Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga. Then in 2017, a tornado hit and wiped the business off the map. Down, but not out, the location was rebuilt and has grown to thirteen houses and acres of outdoor growing area.

 In 2021 Allen, Vonda and their sons Trey and TJ, started another venture, online sale. Eight more houses and a packing facility were built, and 20,000 pots of trees and shrubs were added. Many changes were made, but one thing has remained the same, those same qualities that you got in that little county store are the same you get at Tristar Plants. The customer is the most important part of Tristar Plants. When you call or message us you are talking to us, not an answering service or an off site customer service representative. You are having a conversation with the people who potted the plant, who grew the plant, who package the plant, and the person who wants to treat you like family and wants to get to know you and offer you more than just plant.
