The Northern Red Oak requires full sun. Good drainage is crucial for Northern Red Oaks. They do not tolerate waterlogged or poorly drained soils, as this can lead to root rot and other issues. If you have heavy clay soil, it's essential to improve drainage by amending the soil with organic matter or considering raised planting beds.
