The Cornus sericea 'Flaviramea' - Yellow Twig Dogwood is rapid-growing, suckering, deciduous flowering shrub that is native to North America. When this shrub is still young and the stems are newly formed, they look a greenish-yellow that mature to a golden-yellow in the fall. Decorated in medium sized leaves with and oval shape that turn from a dark green in the summer, to reddish-orange for the fall and purple in the winter. During the spring time this shrub produces small, creamy white flower clusters attracting all sorts of pollinators from butterflies to bees. In the summer these flowers turn into small blue-tinged white berries that attract wildlife such as birds. Be it any time of the year this shrub will sure bring some form of color to your landscape.

Size: Mature size can reach 5'- 6' x 5'- 6'

Light: Full sun to partial shade

Hardiness zone: 3 - 8

Characteristics: Grows in an upright-spreading, suckering shrub that is fast growing and has a large rounded spread. Blooms attract pollinators while the berries and structure attract birds. This shrub is typically found along rivers and swampy wetlands and does not thrive in hot and humid environments. Generally disease and pest free under the right conditions.

Growth Rate: Rapid

Soil, Water, Fertilize: Consistently moist, organically rich, fertile, loamy, well-draining soil with the pH 5.5 - 6.5. Tolerant to a variety of soils, including clay, swampy or boggy conditions, deer, and erosion. Pruning in late winter during dormancy can promote brighter colored growth and shapes the shrub, but is not necessary.

Plant at least 4'ft apart between each plant to avoid overcrowding or 5'ft if spacing in between each shrub is desired.

Prune old canes in early spring. New growth provides brightest color.

Beautiful, shipped in good condition, just got some new leaves. Stem colors are impressive.
