The Ben Lear cranberry plant is a low-growing, trailing evergreen shrub. It typically forms dense mats or carpets of foliage, spreading horizontally rather than growing vertically. The plant can reach a height of around 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 centimeters) and spread to about 2 to 3 feet (0.6 to 0.9 meters) in width.

The Ben Lear cranberry plant is typically hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 2 to 7. This means it can tolerate colder temperatures and is suitable for a wide range of regions in North America.

Cranberries, including the Ben Lear cultivar, have specific soil requirements for optimal growth. They prefer acidic, well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. The ideal pH range for cranberries is around 4.0 to 5.5. They thrive in moist or wet soil conditions, as they are often cultivated in bogs or areas with high water tables. However, they can tolerate occasional dry periods once established.

Apply a layer of organic mulch, such as pine needles or bark chips, around the base of the plant. Mulching helps retain moisture, suppresses weed growth, and maintains a more acidic environment preferred by cranberries.

Great Plant

Great plant, shipped well. Only thing is I would have liked more detailed planting instruction. It also would have been nice to include a print out with my shipment. Took me a minute to find them on the website.
