Botanical Name: Acer rubrum

Common Name: Native Red Maple Tree

Ships in a 1 Gallon Trade Pot

Mature Height & Spread: 40-60 feet x 30-40ft

Growth Rate: Fast

Exposure: Full sun to partial shade

Soil Preference: Moist, well-draining soil

USDA Hardiness Zone: 3-9

Location: Choose a planting location that receives full sun to partial shade. The Native Red Maple Tree can tolerate various soil types, including clay and loam, but it thrives best in moist, well-draining soil conditions.

Digging the Hole: Dig a hole that is two to three times wider than the root ball of the tree. The depth of the hole should be equal to the height of the root ball.

Planting: Gently remove the Native Red Maple Tree from the trade pot and place it in the center of the hole. Ensure that the top of the root ball is level with or slightly above the ground level. Backfill the hole with the excavated soil, firming it gently around the roots to eliminate air pockets.

Watering: After planting, thoroughly water the tree to settle the soil and provide hydration to the roots. Keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged, during the first year of growth.

Mulching: Apply a layer of organic mulch around the base of the tree, leaving a small space around the trunk to prevent moisture buildup. Mulching helps retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, and suppress weed growth.

Pruning: Prune the Native Red Maple Tree during its dormant season (late fall to early spring) to remove dead or damaged branches, improve overall structure, and maintain desired shape. Avoid heavy pruning during the growing season to prevent stress to the tree.

Fertilization: Native Red Maple Trees generally do not require heavy fertilization. However, you can apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to promote healthy growth. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer packaging for application rates.

***Please note that the Native Red Maple Tree may experience some transplant shock after being planted. With proper care, including regular watering and monitoring for pests or diseases, the tree will establish itself and thrive in its new environment.
