The Hosta Stained Glass has bright, golden leaves with wide, deep green margins with prominent veining that provides the appearance of stained glass. Lovely large, fragrant pale lavender flowers appear in late summer. Hostas are easy to grow and maintain. These plants return year after year!! Large or small mounds of Hosta are not only beautiful as borders, but also as a filler in flower gardens or landscape areas.

Hosta grows best in moist, well-drained highly organic soil. ‘Stained Glass’ Hosta can grow up to 15 inches tall and spread as wide as 48 inches. The ‘Stained Glass’ Hosta prefers part to full shade.

Full sun to partial sun.

Attracts birds, bees and butterflies.

Drought tolerant once established.

Hardiness zone: 3 - 9

Characteristics: Large to extra large size Hosta. Guacamole sport, large elongated, brilliant gold leaves with wide dark green margins with a greater sun tolerance. Has the ability to flower in mid to late summer, fragrant clusters of pale lavender flower buds that emerge horizontally on short flower stems from the clusters. These herbaceous perennials die back in the winter months and reemerges every year during early spring. Attracts pollinators.

Growth rate: Moderate

Soil & Water: Prefers moist, water-retentive, fertile soil with pH of 6.5 - 7.0. Sensitive to heat and direct harsh sun. Water in periods of drought. Does not do well in compact soil. Recommended to prune spent flowers. When in dormancy water periodically, do not allow to dry out.

Can be grown in ground or in containers.

Plant 36" inches apart, center to center.

Flower scapes can be snipped to bring blooms indoors.

Divide plants in late summer or early spring. Division should have at least 3 eyes. Allow several years before dividing.

Potted dormant perennials can be kept in a well-lit cool/cold area (i.e. garage, shed, even in a protected area outdoors) until ready for spring planting. Do not allow them to completely dry out.

Better than expected

Plants came well packed and were larger than I expected. Got them all in the ground and they are already growing new leaves
