The Prunus Armeniaca - Moorpark Apricot Tree dates back 3,000 years to northeastern China. Apricots are a versatile nutritious fruit grown from Asia to Europe as well as from east to west in North America. The Moorpark has a bright, golden orange, thin, aromatic skin that either turns a brownish-red blush or develops red freckles where they faced the sun. Apricots are sweet and delicious when eaten fresh, however, they are often used in sauces, jams, baking and as dried fruit.
These small to medium-sized, self-fertile trees have spreading, rounded canopies with lovely white, fragrant blossoms in Spring, and yellow to red leaf color in Fall. Although having 2 or more varieties nearby is recommended for a better crop yield.
