Hardiness Zone: 5 - 10

Characteristics: Calycanthus floridus is very resistant to disease and insect problems. It has a prolific suckering habit, adapts to many soils, and grows taller in shaded places. Blooms April - July. Fruits develop in summer.

Soil & Water: Prefers deep loamy soil that is kept moist with a soil pH between 6.1 - 7.5. Tolerates wet and clay soil and is deer and disease resistant. Does not tolerate drought.

Grows more compact in sun than in shade.

Prune after flowers have spent to shape or for maintenance.
