Apple Tree 'Red Delicious'

Discovered as a chance seedling on the Iowa farm grounds of Jesse Hiatt in 1872. Initially named 'Hawkeye' until they were rebranded and underwent multiple improvements to alter their shape, firmness, juiciness, and color. And it wasn't until the unrelated 'Golden Delicious' they were renamed to the known and loved 'Red Delicious'. Though they look a lot different from when they first came out into the market, this American staple has made its name known in the market worldwide.
