The Asparagus officinalis 'Sweet Purple' - Asparagus is a long-lived perennial vegetable crop that is enjoyed by many gardeners. It can be productive for 20 or more years if given proper care. This newer purple cultivar has a unique dark purple color and has a higher sugar content, giving it a sweeter flavor than the green foliage asparagus and are able to be eaten cooked or raw.
