Liliaceae - Curly Fries is perfect for tucking into a small spots or for growing in containers and contrasts nicely with blue varieties. Forms an arching mound of wiggly, narrow, stiff gold leaves that are heavily ruffled. Leaves emerge chartreuse and brighten to yellow. Best yellow leaf color when grown in half day morning sun.

Full sun to partial sun.

Attracts birds, bees and butterflies.

Drought tolerant once established.

Lavender flowers, non-fragrant

Size: Mature size can reach up to 6” high & 16” wide

Characteristics: Miniature variety. Forming a finely-textured, arching mound with extremely rippled, lance-shaped, pale chartreuse leaves. Mature plants can develop red speckled petioles. Has the ability to flower in mid to late summer, fragrant clusters of lavender flower buds that emerge horizontally on short flower stems from the clusters. These herbaceous perennials die back in the winter months and reemerges every year during early spring. Attracts hummingbirds, bees, butterflies and other pollinators, as well as birds.

Growth Rate: Moderate to Fast

Soil, water, Fertilize: Prefers moist, water-retentive, fertile soil with pH of 5.5 - 7.5. Sensitive to heat and direct harsh sun. Water in periods of drought. Does not do well in compact soil. Recommended to prune spent flowers. When in dormancy water periodically, do not allow to dry out.

Flower scapes can be snipped to bring blooms indoors.

Divide plants in late summer or early spring. Division should have at least 3 eyes. Allow several years before dividing.

Potted dormant perennials can be kept in a well-lit cool/cold area (i.e. garage, shed, even in a protected area outdoors) until ready for spring planting. Do not allow them to completely dry out.
