The Lagerstroemia Indica 'Whit II' - 'Red' Crape Myrtle is the brightest red blooming of all Crape Myrtle varieties out there. Being native to China, this deciduous shrub is hardy, heat-loving, cold tolerable and pest and disease resistant, perfect for the southern United States. This shrub is a multi-stemmed, dense growing deciduous shrub with smooth peeling bark decorated with dark green foliage that turn a golden yellow orange in the fall. Clusters of showy, abundant, ruffled red flowers blooming from early July to September lasting sometimes anywhere from 3 to 4 months every blooming period. Pruning any spent flowers will prolong their flowering periods as well. 

Full sun to partial sun.

Size: Mature size can reach up to 25'ft high and 15'ft wide.

Light: Prefers full sun (At least 6 hours of direct sunlight)

Characteristics: This shrub grows in an upright manner, blooming clusters of vibrant red ruffled flowers in the spring and summer lasting for 3-4 months at a time. Attracts hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. Plant your Crape Myrtle where it will receive full sun in fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Pruning should be done in late winter or early spring before growth begins. Responds well to shaping into either a small tree or shrub.

Growth Rate: Fast

Soil, Water & Fertilize: Adapts to a variety of soils like loam and clay soils and is drought tolerant, cold and heat hardy once the roots are established. Prefers average well-draining, moist soil with a pH of 5.0 - 6.5. Removing spent flowers will prolong blooming periods.

It was a gift and would have liked an option to add a message so the recipient knew who sent the plant otherwise very very happy with ease of order and delivery timeframe etc
