Syringa Reticulata - Japanese Lilac, often called Ivory Silk Tree, is one of the larger varieties of lilac shrubs and a later bloomer. This lilac is easily groomed into either a small tree or shrub. This graceful, spreading shrub is a showy, fragrant bloomer and will make a great addition to any garden. Abundant showy, fragrant, clusters of creamy white flowers appear on the branches and attract pollinators such as butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. The Japanese Lilac beauty and fragrance can be brought into your home in floral arrangements.

Size: Mature size can reach 20' - 30' x 15' - 25'

Hardiness Zone: 3 - 7

Characteristics: Grows into graceful, spreading branches that form an oval to rounded shaped crown. Leaves are simple, medium to dark green leaves. Large flower clusters of small creamy-white fragrant flowers in late spring to early summer. Attracts pollinators.

Soil, water, Fertilize: Rich, moist, well-draining acidic soil with pH of 6.5 - 7.0. Cold hardy, tolerant to different types of soils. Water in periods of drought. Pruning after flowering periods is recommended but not necessary, but timing is important as they bloom on old growth. Fertilize lilacs in late winter.
