The Sambucus Canadensis - American Elderberry, also called common elderberry, is a native deciduous shrub with bright white flower clusters followed by small, round, dark purple, almost black drupes that are edible only when ripe. The elderberry contains a high amount of vitamin C and is excellent for pies, syrups, wines, etc.

 Can cross pollinate with and other elderberry variety.

 Fruit is only edible when ripe.

Full sun to partial sun.

Attracts birds, bees and butterflies.

Native to North America

White flowers, fragrant
