The Vaccinium Corymbosum 'Duke' - 'Duke' Blueberries are an early ripening variety. These shrubs produce large, crisp, firm, sweet-tangy, light blue berries in the late spring. Bearing fruit within 2-3 years, this shrub has small white, pink-tinged blossoms that ripen into large, light blue, edible berries in late May and producing fruit for over 50 years! Branches are adorned with oval shaped green leaves that turning shades of burgundy to orange in the fall.

Though this is a self-pollinating shrub it is always recommended to plant other varieties nearby to increase your crop production.

Characteristics: Vigorous growing, upright, slightly spreading manner and produces large, sweet-tangy, crisp, light blue berries. Attracts birds, bees and butterflies. Has a chill hours (CU) requirement of 1.000 per year. (Chill hours are the average hours of air temperature between 32° and 45° F in a typical winter season.)

Soil, Water, Fertilizer: Moist, rich, loamy, well-draining with the pH 4.5 - 5.5. Water regularly, more often in extreme heat. This variety is cold hardy as low as -30°.
