Growth Rate: Moderate
Soil, Water, Fertilize: Moist and well draining soil with a pH of 5.5-7. Watering needs are normal. Normal is defined as regular watering to a depth of 18 inches, but periodically dries out in the top 7 inches between waterings. Young plants need extra phosphorus to encourage good root development. Look for a fertilizer that has phosphorus, P, in it(the second number on the bag.) Apply recommended amount for plant per label directions in the soil at time of planting or at least during the first growing season.
