Apple Tree 'Fuji'

Relatively considered a new variety, the Fuji Apple was first bred in Japan in the late 1930's but were only first introduced into the American market in 1962. Fuji's were a result of crossing two American varieties of apples, the Red Delicious, and the Virginia Ralls Janet. They are known primarily for their sweetness and are one of the highest sugar containing apples with about 14g of sugar per 100g.
